We  use our  Haflinger  Horses for sleigh rides,trail rides,parades,ride& drive at shows,  skidding & hauling fire wood from our bushlot to our house.
We chose this breed  ( after trying several ) because of it`s versatility and desire to please,also being easy keepers making it an ideal family horse.We have found there is still a large demand for this type of horse
Gladys begins training the day they are born, teaching them to stop with a hand held against their chest, allowing her to handle feet, and to lead within a few days. They then progress thru lounging, to ground driving, to being hitched to a light sleigh their second winter.
During the winter we hitch as often as possible to train 2 & 3 yr olds & exersize older ones. When ever possible we invite friends, neigbours or groups to come & enjoy the outing 0n our bush trails often ending with a pot luch supper.
In summer we enjoy weekend trail rides or wagon trips, spending evenings socializing around a campfire while the Haflingers happily munch on their hay bags. We also participate in fall fairs, parades, and a 3 day steam &antique show where the Haflinger team skid logs into the mill to be sawninto lumber. In this they have to walk in between the saw & the steam engine huffing & chugging away, which they do without batting an eye.
Last but not least the team pulls wagon loads of wood from our bushlot to keep us snuggly warm in winter  while they play in snow during the day and rest in their cozy box stalls at night
